I am just starting the school year, so I am looking forward to meeting my new students. I look forward to teaching them to work together and use their interactive math notebooks both inside and outside of the classroom. I have found that students who use their interactive math notebooks on a daily basis are more successful in my math class as well as future math classes. It is essential for students to learn to take notes in math class and use them to do their assignments to not only learn the material, but to retain what they have learned.
My Project
As a math teacher, I believe that taking notes and practicing problems is essential to students' learning. In my class, I try to make the interactive notebooks colorful and fun to encourage students to use them both inside the classroom and outside the classroom.
I have had great feedback from students about my interactive math notebooks, but I'm always trying to make them better!
We like to use highlighters and colored pens to help focus on important topics and colored pencils to distinguish between problems. Besides the interactive math notebook, students need a folder in class to store their worksheets and graded assignments to help them prepare for their summative assessments.
