It is important that my students are engaged during class. I never want them to feel bored with my lessons. I am requesting a variety of hands-on materials and games that focus on fractions and decimals. I feel that having more hands-on materials will help them master our math standards.
My students are a great group of fourth graders.
We have 30 students in the class. They attend a K-5 Elementary School. All of my students are eager to learn, and they strive to do their best. I do find that they relate to the curriculum better when they have hands-on materials.
My Project
The new Common Core State Standards are more rigorous than the students are used to. A big focus of the 4th grade Math Standards is placed on fractions and decimals. The students would benefit from being able to explore and learn about fractions and decimals by using hands-on materials.
Times are hard right now within our school district.
We are lacking the funds that we once had to help teachers with supplies. If we had these materials in class, I think it would help my students succeed.
