Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students live in the beautiful Yakama Indian Reservation. Our school population is mostly Hispanic and Native students with 100% receiving free lunch. Our K-5 students are improving, but need more support. I believe my students are only getting part of what they should be getting in my technology class. I believe that with help and guidance, my students can get better at creating and innovating.
Our elementary school is working on creating students for the future.
Our motto is "to impact, educate, and inspire all kids". The motto of my technology and library classes stems from the school motto. We are all about thinking, collaborating, creating, and sharing. Our kids are working hard at this, but both the students and I want to get better at this to help our kids succeed. I teach K-5 Library Media and Technology, and the students learn typing, digital citizenship, G Suite, research skills and many more aspects of technology.
My Project
Literacy is very important to kids. This project's main purpose is to bring literacy to life and to make it interactive. The books in this project have the authors writing books in a way that the characters of the book are interacting with the audience.
I believe the interactive literacy genre will really help our kids experience a difference in style of writing.
In addition to a different style of writing, students will have the opportunity to study these authors. Also, I would love to give these kids a chance to write their own book based on this style of book that we read.
