Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is composed of students from various backgrounds. Many come from low income families. My students are inquisitive, yet desire and crave attention from someone that will love and accept them for who they are. Many of my students are below grade level, and need that extra support to bridge educational gaps. Several are also special needs scholars ranging from learning disabilities to being on the spectrum. Not only do I have students that are auditory learners, but I also have many that are visual and kinesthetic. I want to grant them with the opportunity to learn, and thrive in the classroom, and assist in setting the bar as to what is expected from now on at the secondary level.
As their classroom teacher, I want to continue to create a comfortable, and educationally inspiring environment.
Yes! Although they are middle school students, I want them to still know that learning is cool, and definitely a priority in their life. Many of these children do not enjoy reading. They see it as a drawn out task. I want to expose them to the wonderful treasures and opportunities that come from reading.
My Project
My project includes items such as Kindle Fire 7 Kids Edition Tablets where they will have access to over 15,000 books, a charging station to power up the tablets, a storage ottoman for proper storage of the items, and an area rug with floor pillow cushioning for comfort.
This generation of students speak the language of technology.
The items for my project will clearly enhance the learning environment of my classroom by including the technological component. While there is still an appreciation for a tangible book, many students enjoy reading off of a tablet and even including an audio component.
