Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are hardworking and striving to meet grade-level standards. My students have multiple disabilities and have a wide range of abilities. They are in an integrated classroom setting, which means they strive to work alongside students who function at grade level. This makes many tasks extremely difficult for them which can cause a lack of motivation. I strive to motivate my students to learn and enjoy learning! Also, my students require a high level of student engagement to keep their focus on lessons, using various strategies in teaching, seating, technology, and learning.
My students come from low-income households with English as a second language.
Parents work long, hard hours to give their children everything they can. There is a lack of support at home due to language barriers and parents working more than one job to survive. They try the best they can to help reinforce learning at home. I want to help bridge academic and social gaps for my students!
My students deserve to come eagerly to school and learn in a highly engaging atmosphere with the tools that make learning accessible for their needs.
My Project
The Lenovo desktop will serve MANY needs in my classroom. First and foremost, I teach special needs students in an ICT setting. This means I share a classroom with another teacher and many higher-level thinking students. I often need to pull the students with needs into a small group. While the rest of the class is busy learning and interacting with a Smartboard, my students are lacking the visual devices and interactive fun they can have in the small group we have in the corner of the classroom. The desire to interact with the Smartboard games and the need for better visual aids (online projected curriculum resources and videos) makes small group and work more difficult for students who are already at a greater need.
The computer I am asking for is large and touch screen enabled.
This allows me to write on curriculum visuals while presenting in small group. It also allows me to give my small groups the same access to touch screen interactive learning games. I will be able to play helpful videos and resources in my small group setting without distracting other groups. Ultimately, the computer will act as a mini "Smartboard" in the corner of my classroom. In addition to the various capabilities in the classroom, this device will allow me to provide instruction for students who are at home during remote learning (we will most likely be a hybrid school model this year).
Please help my students get the visual and interactive tools they need to succeed. Thank you!
