Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Remember the moment you have a great idea and answer that you like to share to class. However, you try to explain it many times, but the class and your teacher would not understand because you have to draw it draw it out. I teach 165 students, and they often have these types of question on any day.
My students are curious learners who want to understand science, but they have little support at home.
Full engagement in class is their only opportunity to engage in science discussion and develop their science curiosity. Most have limited academic language, and they need different methods to communicate visually. In addition, many of my students are English Learners, so the language barrier make it harder for them to communicate, especially when they have questions.
My Project
With this Wacom tablet, students will able to ask various questions at their desks. They can write their questions on the Wacom and it is live-projected on the screen immediately. Especially when students a complex question about specific information on the PowerPoint, can write directly on the PowerPoint slide at their desks. When students have a great answer to share with class, they can support their explanation with visual and precise drawing that is limited by their imaginations and knowledge.

The technology bring out the best of students by allowing them to communicate their scientific ideas visually. Most importantly, it allows students to communicate with the teacher and their peers clearly, and it opens new learning opportunities to students, especially students with special needs and English learners.
