The demographics at my school consist of 65% Black students, 30% Hispanic or Latino students, 2% White students, 11% English language learners, and 33% of students who have special needs.
Most students come from low-income households or live in foster homes and shelters.
Many families are single-parent households and working families. We are a Title I school in Harlem. All of our students receive complimentary breakfast and lunch daily. The students at my school are a mixture of different types of learners. My students come from a diverse community.
My hope is for my first-grade students to have all the supplies ready for learning in school and in real life!
My Project
My first grade students are at different levels of learning since most of them came from remote learning last year. This year, to help my students breach the gaps in their learning, I've decided to improve their phonics and math skills through interactive and engaging ELA and Math games!!

Having interactive and educational ELA and Math games will help my students to have fun, but also learning the phonics and math skills they need to be able to read and count. Being able to borrow these phonics and math games to take home to continue practicing the same skills they are learning in school will be motivation for my students to continue learning and building on their previous knowledge.
Students learn best when their teacher and their family are partners in their educational journey!!
