Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are bright and enthusiastic second graders! Their curiosity within the classroom and beyond is best expressed when they are provided opportunities to be in charge of their own learning. I am consistently inspired by their willingness to persist!
I hope to provide a stimulating and interactive learning environment to allow my students to thrive!
Our school is located in the Fruitvale Community of Oakland, CA. At our school, 76% of students are English language learners and 94% of students are eligible for free/reduced-price lunch program.
My Project
Community meetings and small group work are foundational aspects of our classroom and school community. We spend a majority of our day in small groups and on the rug for interactive learning activities.
From whole class community meetings to circles at the carpet and small group literacy and math rotations, my students will have endless opportunities to enhance their learning experiences using the easel!
Students will interact with the easel throughout the entire school day. A mobile easel will allow my students to be in control of their learning and support them in taking initiative!
Additionally, the storage space beneath the easel will allow my students to have quick access to manipulatives and supplies. The storage containers can be easily switched out based on our activity/lesson.
I can already imagine their excitement and appreciation of being able to use a BIG easel whiteboard/magnetic surface to support their learning!
