This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Hello! Welcome to a little peek into my classroom. Let's start with my main attraction...the kids! My kiddos are amazing. They love learning, friendship, and anything and everything that includes bright colors, movement, and a challenge! My school's population consists of 99.9% Somali students. 97.5% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch and nearly all students are ESL. They have a lot of challenges in their lives, but it doesn't stop them from beating the odds and achieving their goals!
My Project
We are SO lucky to have access to technology at my school. We recently removed out computer labs and have 1:1 Chromebooks in my class. However, that's where our luck runs out! We have 15 headphones, the least expensive kind possible, to share with my 25 student class, which would be great if they worked, however, they don't! With the version Chromebook we have, they are CONSTANTLY coming unplugged and breaking. For English language learners, computer access is huge because it provides a learning environment where students can move at their own pace, target the skills they need to practice, and listen to English (not coming from their yapping teacher!)
