My students need a MacBook Air to access more complicated applications with their STEM projects.

Currently, I am teaching sixth graders in a Title I school, where 90% of our students are receiving free and reduced rate lunch due to their low socioeconomic statuses. I have been teaching at my school for nine years. I have known most of my students since they were little and taught many of their siblings and cousins. My school and students are like my family. I really care for them, and I want them to succeed.
Being here as long as I have, I see how much my students struggle financially, and the problems that they have to endure; therefore, I am always looking for ways to help them so they can be successful.
Currently, I teach multiple subject areas: English language arts, science, and math to about fifty sixth graders. Since I understand my students' struggles, I know how important it is for me to push and help them become better and do better.
Teaching them multiple subjects, I have to work harder in getting the tools they need to learn and be engaged.
Right now, my classroom has Chromebooks available for students to use. With the Chromebooks, my students can access the Internet to use online programs for learning and creating documents and presentations to collaborate and store in the cloud. My students and I are very grateful for having Chromebooks but they are limited in what they can do. This becomes a problem when doing more complicated projects such as STEM projects.
My students need a more powerful computer like a Macbook that is portable and allows students to do STEM projects like robotics, coding, programming, and design applications.
With robotics, you need to be able to move around the classroom while using a computer. Macbooks are powerful devices for designing, coding, and programming. This will allow my students to have a device that is mobile where they can move around the classroom and be able to do the STEM projects like robotics.
Being a middle school science, math, and reading teacher, I understand the importance of incorporating STEM projects into my classroom. Students need more exposure to STEM and hands-on learning in order to help them be successful for their future. Math and Science are not just required subjects to learn in school but are essential in helping them to access more jobs and careers. My goal is to help all of my students to participate in 21st century learning and hoping that some will be able to take what they learn to the next level. By helping me fund my project, you will help my students not only to learn more about science and math in the classroom but also build a passion and motivation that could go beyond the classroom.
