My Students

Hello, donor. My name is Roben Nelson, and I am the math interventionist at a Title I school. I service the math needs of a very wonderful group of students that possess a desire to master math concepts during each session. In our weekly math sessions, we cover topics that the students required extra assistance with from their regular math teachers. The intensive training the students receive requires the use of math manipulatives, visual aids, and technology software.

It is my desire to create engaging math mini-lessons for my students to help them master grade-level content.

It takes a lot of effort and organization to prepare math lessons for grades 3-7, but the satisfaction I receive from watching my students make progress is worth it!

My Project

Students will benefit from viewing animated math videos and practicing math fluency on the fact fluency website, Xtramath.org.

The use of iPads in math intervention will allow my students to use specialized math applications that are tailored to their individual needs.

Additionally, iPads are easy to transport and store in our math intervention room, a room that is much smaller than the traditional classroom. Students can take pictures of the real world and incorporate it into projects. Lastly, my students will receive immediate, detailed feedback from online quizzes and other interactive tools. The possibilities are endless when integrating technology effectively!
