Help me give my students and colleagues an effective book check in and check out procedure. The Chromebook, scanners, and accessories will increase teacher and student use of the books and resources in our school's book room.
Do you remember the first time you read a book that you couldn't put down? You couldn't wait to find out what happens or if there are more books in that series. I teach in a wonderful low income elementary school located in Illinois. It's home to just over 430 amazing students who participate in the Title I program and the dual language academy.
Even with the economic and social-emotional challenges that many of our students face, they come to school each day and are curious, enthusiastic, and creative.
I teach in a small corner of this amazing school. I share my classroom with another literacy specialist and house all of the books available for teachers to use in their small group instruction for grades 1-6. My classroom, also known as the book room, is an inviting space for teachers and students to learn to love the love of reading.
My Project
These simple, yet technologically innovating materials will shed new light on the book check out procedure in our school's book room. Teachers and students in our school do not have a quick or easy database to use to access our school's leveled library sets. The Chromebook, scanners, and additional materials will help me redesign the book room's inventory and check out procedure. This will create a more user-friendly and inviting room for teachers and students to pick books based on varied levels of ALL of their learners.
This makes books and resources accessible to each and every one of my students and colleagues, just as it should be!
