This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Our Mission:

We will provide an inspiring and challenging DK-12 educational environment conducive to the development of critical and creative thinking through the integration of the fine arts into the sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEAM), utilizing project based instruction and multi-age experiences.

My students live rural northern Michigan where it is beautiful but far from many experiences that other students their age get in big cities. Many things we do are funded by the individual families and often the student's themselves. In addition the performances music classes are a key part of every student's education at our school where music is used to teach important life skills such as team work, critical thinking and performing as group under pressure.

My Project

The COVID pandemic has drastically altered music programs across the country. For health and safety reasons students are unable to share instruments in class. Do the expense of these instruments it is hard to be able to provide an instrument to each student for each class. Which has lead us to not be able to use instruments in music classrooms.

These instruments would allow students to play instruments in music class again.

They would complete classroom sets of instruments that have been purchased and donated in previous years. We would now have enough for students to each have a different instrument which would also to play instruments again without having to worry about passing instruments and what could be one them.
