Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I teach twelve students with severe disabilities in a high school serving a community having a disproportionate number of low-income residents unable to provide socioeconomic advantages for their families. Our school serves students in grades 9-12 and boasts rigorous academics, dedicated teachers, and a supportive learning environment.
Despite their physical and other disabilities, my students are eager to do their best.
They want to learn all they can in order to be successful one day. All receive free lunch in the school cafeteria.
My Project
With Learn a Language DVD students will discover a new language. They can choose from Spanish, French, Mandarin, Chinese, Italian, German, and English. They will learn simple words and phrases for playful outside activities and objects. Students will learn about nature and common animals, explore different foods at a picnic and learn words for outdoor play. The action verbs include walking, hide and seek and more.
With the Sight Words 3-DVD Set, students will learn the most frequently used words in children's literature, explore exciting adventures to practice word recognition, eventually within the context of read-along stories and catchy songs.
Your help will ensure that my students with severe disabilities can build literacy skills needed for participation in a variety of important life skills.
