This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I have taught tenth grade for almost five years in Oklahoma City. My students are funny and sweet and they inspire me on a daily basis to be a better person. This does not mean they are perfect; as in all relationships, we have our good days and our bad days, but there is always love there.

Teaching English has given me the opportunity to see beyond grades and percentages, and truly see the type of people they are and who they are becoming.

My Project

Composition books will improve my students' learning by allowing them to track and develop their thoughts and opinions of the novel. They will be completing a literary analysis for each chapter. These mini literary analysis assignments will include: diction, symbolism, meaningful quotes, summaries, etc.

Throughout this novel project, I hope to improve my students' confidence in their academic abilities while changing their attitudes toward reading.

I want to eliminate the self-doubt they have when it comes to reading books and analyzing for meaning.

My students are bright and insightful, and Fahrenheit 451 will teach them the value of an education.
