Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
At my Washington, DC middle school, students see the library as a place of refuge, the hangout spot during lunch, and a welcoming space to explore the world of information. My middle school students love to create and be themselves among friends. As we adjust and adapt to what it means to learn in our flexible environments, students and staff seek a learning space that is designed to foster their knowledge, interests, and creativity.
By donating to this project, my students and staff will be able to engage in arts and crafts and tinker in the makerspace to inspire their creativity and sense of mental well being.
Students will be able to interact with others at the makerspace station to collaborate, problem solve, design, and/or mentally refresh during the day. When people feel safe to explore, we create opportunities for learning, seeking, and growth.
