My students are always buzzing with energy. They love to move, chat, participate in hands-on projects, and grow their brains. When they walk into the room, it immediately comes alive with their fun personalities. You would never guess the amount of challenges many of them face each day. As a teacher at a school that services many low socioeconomic families, it is common for students to come hungry, tired, worried, and without all the supplies they need. However, that never seems to affect their desire to learn and their excitement to be at school.
I strive to give my students an environment in which they are free to explore their wonders, show their creativity, but above all, where they feel safe.
I hope that they see school as a place where they can challenge themselves and gain the skills that will help them become anything they want to be in the future.
My Project
There are so many amazing books for kids to enjoy. Sadly, some kids have a hard time getting into reading because their current reading abilities make it hard for them to read the stories they are interested in. This leaves them squirrelly during read to self time, constantly searching for a book which grabs their attention.
This is why I would like a set of Audiobooks to help bring those high-interest books to my struggling readers.
All of the books I have included in my cart are available in a hard copy in my classroom. It is my hope that by having an audiobook available, all of my students will be able to enjoy these high-interest books while following along in the actual book. This will help them to engage in book talks with their peers, find books that they enjoy reading and be exposed to good examples of reading.
