My students need weather kits and animal cell kits so that my visual and tactile learners can take their learning outside of books and connect it to the real world.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our 5th graders love science! They get excited about hands-on activities and working on projects. I have 2 5th grade classes of multi-leveled students. These are general education classrooms with an inclusion model. We have some students who are reading more than 2 years below grade level, and they have better chances of success in science with hands-on activities and kits.
My students are very inquisitive and energetic, so science class time must be more than just reading from and completing workbook pages.
So, 2018-2019 school year science projects, here we come!
My Project
My students will be able to develop investigative skills through hands-on activities that will keep their interest with these new resources. These types of projects are geared towards my visual and tactile learners. Everyone can learn and have fun!
The weather kits will be used to help students develop tools to predict the weather and give them ideas to invent their own tools.
Finally, they will create a weather forecast. The animal cell kits will be used during small group instruction for struggling students to help them with understanding cells.
Funding our project will give my students real-world connections to science and the world around us!
