My students spend all day working very hard. They always enjoy when I give them hands-on activities to do that allow them to practice using their skills in a different way. They talk to me about their dreams and goals in life and more often than not, they tell me they want to create things. They want to build. They want to explore.
My students come from a variety of backgrounds and abilities.
We are part of a small mountain town that is very close knit.
My Project
With the help of this STEM Kit, my students will be able to experience the world around them in a very different manner. Not only will they be able to learn a new skill in science, but they will be able to put that skill to use in creating.
With this STEM kit, my students will be able to practice creating things like a working windmill, a bridge that connects two areas together, a working dam that blocks water, and a working well.
Not only will my students be working on science, but they will also strengthen their understanding of a variety of Folk Tales by learning about the problems that the characters faced and having to come up with solutions that can actually solve that problem.
With this kit, not only will my students strengthen their understanding in science and language arts, but they will be able to work on a variety of skills that will make them better learners and ultimately better people. They will accomplish this by working in groups to find solutions to problems. This will help their social skills and reasoning because they will have to be able to come up with a solution as a group. They will also strengthen their problem solving skills by having to come up with working solutions to the problems presented to them in the Folk Tale or on the task card.
