Remember that feeling when you'd open up a fresh new book, take in the warm smell of the paper, and crack the spine? That feeling of satisfaction when you know that you'll be the first one to get your hands on the paperback you'd been eyeing since you read the review? My students crave that moment and get a burst of excitement when they find a new book in the classroom library.
I am a teacher in a Title 1 school, and my students are eager to learn and explore new worlds through literature despite coming from low-income households.
The kiddos in my classroom adore connecting with characters, expanding their curiosity, and watching themselves grow as readers.
With the help of guided reading, workshop model, and an interest-based library this group of third graders thrive as little readers and writers.
My Project
Books like Nate the Great and Princess in Black are excellent for both high and low readers alike. The series in our fresh new library are kid-approved texts that always fly off of the shelf in the library.
Graphic novel studies will help kids dive deep into the literature.
They will use illustrations to connect with character, explore nuances in setting, and improve comprehension
Top-notch series collections will help my students lead their own literature circles and series studies. They will become leaders in their own learning! Best of all, these books will help students expand their interests and explore new ideas.
