Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are EXCITED AND CURIOUS LEARNERS. They are creative, thoughtful, and amazing human beings. I teach 3rd graders at a charter school in San Marcos, California. They come to school every day ready to learn and accomplish new goals! These kiddos are excited to try new things, brave with new concepts and ideas…all while growing both personally and academically. I’m so proud of each and every one of them.
At my school site, my fellow teachers and myself have the awesome opportunity to work with students who are a part of the underserved communities of San Marcos, Escondido, and Vista (Greater San Diego County in Southern California.) We need help acquiring additional learning tools being a new charter school in the area.
My Project
It is a gift to find reading material that is both engaging and rigorous. Scholastic News Magazines are a fantastic resource for improving 3rd grade fluency and comprehension. In our school’s diverse population, Scholastic News provides students with the opportunity to start collaborative discussions and debates about real life issues. Students can highlight, write on, and learn about text features in an exciting way.
The students will be able to bring home their magazine each Friday, giving them the opportunity to have in-depth discussions about current events with their family.
Please help my students develop their love of reading informational text, while improving their speech and language skills.
