This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
As an educator in an urban, high-poverty district, funding and opportunities for my scholars are limited. Although they face challenges each day, both in and out of the classroom, I see their potential and will do whatever it takes to inspire, teach, and help my students thrive.
My scholars are creative, hopeful, and deserve only the very best education and experiences.
Many students in my classroom want to learn and are working towards a better "them" each and every day. We work on academics but also engage in social and emotional learning, as well as life skills and interactions. I am passionate about watching my kids succeed and work tirelessly day in and out to give them the confidence and knowledge they need to become the best version of themselves.
My Project
These books will allow me to learn and improve myself as an educator. Students having a strong foundation in elementary school is essential in their academic and overall success in life.
These teaching books will help me to more effectively teach reading and writing, and also to motivate myself to be the best educator I can be.
Guided reading is an important time in the instructional day and I want to learn all I can to provide effective, meaningful lessons and activities. Teach Like a Pirate will give me fun, engaging strategies to implement in the classroom so my scholars look forward to coming to school each day and learning!
