Help me give my students more books! Once my 6th graders came back into my classroom, they were hungry to read about the world.

My Project

After being at home for a period of time, once my students came back to the classroom, they were reluctant to pick up books. I had to show them all over again that it was fun to read. Our school has set up a school-wide DEAR time and I noticed many of them were struggling with finding books that would hold their interest. They would read a chapter, then want to return them and find something new.

Now that we are back in school, I realize my classroom library needs a wider variety for them to choose from.

If I can keep them engaged here in my classroom library, they can devote more time to reading instead of making multiple trips to the school library.

I have also changed subjects from science to social studies and boy, do these kids LOVE the ancient civilizations we are learning about. My library is thin on these selections, so I would love to offer them some more non-fiction and historical fiction options that tie in with our adventures through ancient times.
