Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

I am a second grade teacher at a targeted assistance school. My classroom consists of many different cultures including two English language learners.

The biggest obstacle my students face is lack of resources. This is my first year as a teacher and my classroom resources are very limited. We are in a portable building which is not attached to the main building. The hardest obstacle we face when watching movies is not being able to pull a cart with a TV up a set of steps.

My class would benefit from a TV/DVD combo in our classroom. I always try to present material in many different ways to my class. They will benefit so much from being able to experience videos in the classroom. I remember so many things from school that I saw in movies. Visual images are so powerful and my class will learn so much more from having a TV/DVD in our classroom.

Your help will be greatly appreciated. Your help will also allow my class to see information in a different way. Seeing things differently will help the class learn more. Not only will they learn more but they will retain the information longer.
