Inspire Learning! Get Students the Books they Need!
My students need books to read that are at their reading level that will engage them and science texts and comedies like Diary of a Wimpy Kid do that.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go.” Dr. Suess.
Reading is an essential life skill and one that will help my students make it to college and so much farther, and it starts right here with good books at their level.
My school has a high population of English learners, and students from low income homes.
They are the sweetest students, and want so badly to learn and succeed, but they do not have access to the books and learning materials they need at home. School becomes their only outlet for academic success, and our school is constantly focusing on this.
We are a NO EXCUSES University school, so where ever a student is in the school they are reminded that college is their goal. We focus on this by doing math nights, reading nights, school wide homework help and other after school tutoring.
My Project
These books will be essential to my students reading growth this year. They would be used daily by over half of my students who are in desperate need of lower leveled books that they can read at their independent level.
If you could take a walk around my classroom during our tier 2 reading intervention you would see ecstatic pairs of students discussing the book they are reading together. Silent smiling students reading to themselves and developing their own love for reading that will last a life time. You might even see students working on computers to look up and define words they found in their book.
These books will help to broaden my classroom library.
Right now my library consists of 5th-6th grade books, but my students levels are much lower. By adding these titles all of my students will be able to enjoy books that are at their level. That will help them to learn more, but even more importantly it will help to inspire a love of reading. I believe that with a love of reading comes a love of learning that will inspire them to go to college and change their lives. That is what I want.
