Inspire Future Computer Scientists with Raspberry Pis
My students need Raspberry Pi Starter Kits to make STEAM come alive in my classroom. These devices provide a platform for students to showcase their creativity and learning with physical computing.
My school is in the beginning stages of offering computer science education to our students. The next step is to motivate students to take advantage of the opportunities and help them enjoy learning!
My students are a mixed group of 9th through 12 graders with different levels of computing knowledge and different levels of self-confidence about their capabilities.
They are each individuals in terms of their interests and future goals, but they are all living in the same world where the necessity to understand technology is growing exponentially.
My Project
Having Raspberry Pis will allow my students to get their hands dirty with computing. The kits allow for infinitely many real world programming possibilities.
Based on the increased dependence on technology, our country is in need of more CS Majors, and students are 98% more likely to study computer science if they are exposed to it in high school.
In order to meet the national goal of producing more computer scientists, I need to provide exciting hands on projects like programming a motion activated security camera that can send picture alerts to a smart phone, or an alarm that measures the temperature in a car to ensure pets do not experience dangerous conditions.
