My classroom is an elementary school library. All students in the building, kindergarten through fifth grade, come to the library each week to check out books, do research, and learn technology skills. My school is located in Port Orchard.
We have over 490 students at our school that visits the library weekly.
Our school population has over 40% of our students are eligible for the free and reduced-price lunch program. All students are equal when it comes to learning and all of my students deserve every advantage I can give them.
Reading is the most important thing we can teach children to do. To love and enjoy reading is something students have to figure out for themselves. Boys tend to be reluctant readers and are often frustrated because they can't find something to read that they what to read about. I hear way too often reading is boring!
My boys NEED books that will get them excited about reading.
When a student finds a series they like it gets them excited to read the next book. My boys keep asking for the next Bad Guys book or the next Dogman book. Boys and girls are different and they like different things. I want to give my boys more options for reading. That being said I am sure all of my students, both boys and girls will enjoy these books!
