My students need personal rugs to keep them warm and comfortable while sitting on the floor during learning/working time. I would also like to provide my students with inspiring books at their reading level.
Hi! I am a first grade teacher and I love the excitement, energy and enthusiasm 6-7 year olds have for learning! Their excitement and energy also requires a lot of movement. I strive to provide a learning environment that allows students to work and learn in a way that is comfortable for each childs' learning style. While some students enjoy writing at their desk, other students prefer to sit in a different spot where they can spread out, get comfortable and do their best thinking. Some students prefer to stand, sit on stools or even sit on the floor to do their best thinking.
In order to foster the best learning environment for each child and allow them to work in their own way, I would like to provide comfortable floor seating so every student can work and learn in any location in the classroom.
I currently have the standard desks and classroom chairs in my classroom. I would love to provide my students with choices to their seating to allow them to move and be more comfortable when they are learning and working. Thank you for taking the time to look over my project!
The materials I have requested for this project will give my students the freedom to learn and work in a space that is comfortable. Many of my first graders love to stretch out and sit on the floor in a quiet spot while working. Unfortunately, I have a tile floor that is cold and uncomfortable. Having a classroom set of personal rugs will give every student the chance to choose a warm, comfortable learning space that will allow them to do their best work!
I have also requested a variety of books that will spark the interest of my first graders.
First graders are learning to read independently and are eager to read books that are funny, interesting and that also give them a chance to build their fluency. The books I've requested will be interesting and at a level that my students will enjoy reading them independently.
