Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

This is my first year teaching and I would like to inspire our future writers, scholars, mathematicians, scientists, doctors, teachers, etc. To do such a job they need to find just the right book!!
My classroom consist of 25, energetic, ESL students.
They are excited to come to school and are curious each day what adventures will happen. For some of them this is there first year in a classroom setting. I teach English Language Learners from many different backgrounds. Furthermore, I teach in a public school where teachers are dedicated to giving our students the very best, regardless of their situation.
My Project
How will these wonderful books be used in my classroom, you ask?
Well...
It will give students reading materials that they can work with individually at their specific level. It is critical that my students are reading books that are not so difficult that they become frustrated, but also not so easy that they become bored. By having time for independent reading, I will be free to meet with students at least once a week to make sure I can assess their reading progress and check to see that they are working with books at the correct level.
My kindergartners have an incredible range in reading abilities. This project is critically important because leveled books give students a chance to be successful readers regardless of their reading level. It is also very important for my ELL students as it gives them a way to enter into the English language at their own pace .
This project is critical for my ELL readers in order to inspire them to read, they must have the appropriate books to do so.
