Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are second graders who are always eager to learn something new every day in school. I teach at a Title I school in a large city, where 98% of our students receive free breakfast and lunch. My students are very motivated and try their best to learn, despite many obstacles they face each day. A majority of the students in my school come from a Spanish-speaking homes and are attempting to read and write in English, their second language.
My Project
These materials will guide my students to solving math equations on their desk and being able to organize the necessary materials needed to write on their desks instead of always using a lot of copies to practice math. The sharpened pencils, erasers, dry erase markers, and the school boxes will help to organize my students.
The plickers will also be nice, so my students can answer a question and it shows up right away on my Smartboard.
It is also an easier way for me to assess my students in math and social studies. It prepares them for the future in taking state required tests. My students will have the ability to give an answer without being acknowledged as having a wrong answer in front of their peers, but will show success when having the right answer.
