Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our school is in a hardworking area, where most of our parents are working multiple jobs, graveyard shifts, are single parents, or are simply not around. My students struggle with challenging situations on a daily basis and are striving to be the best they can be. Despite the many obstacles my students face, I am looking to keep things fun, cutting edge, and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences. I want to create a space that feels like home and that is inviting, which keeps them engaged and creates lifelong learners. I want them to thrive!
I can't control what happens at home, but I can make sure that the classroom environment is safe, warm, inviting, and waiting for them to come back the next day!
By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hopeful to inspire my sixth graders to continue on a path of success.
My Project
These materials will allow me to create a science lab that is functional, organized, and inviting. The shelves are going to be for students to place their projects and pending activities as well as storage for their items that won't leave the lab. The skeleton is a life size model that will allow them hands on experience when we learn about the skeletal system.
The classroom ambiance and decorations help create an atmosphere in which the students will want to be in and learn at.
The vinyl stickers, science posters, and decoration items allow me to create a lab that is visually appealing and motivating. The trays will assist with their materials when they are at their lab stations.
