My Students

My students are a diverse group of bright, curious and very hardworking, middle school students who range in age from 10-15 years old.

My middle school is part of a diverse community where more than half our population receives free or reduced-price lunch, and about 65% of the students are minorities from all over the world.

Being a part of a diverse community is a great advantage because we learn so much from each other. Many of my students are English Language Learners who are often new to the United States. It is amazing watching native Spanish speaking students communicating with students who only speak Chinese or Urdu.

My Project

Please consider helping me bring more inspiring books into my Social Studies ENL classroom! My students are thirsty for knowledge! They love reading famous stories and learning about the history of our world!

Books in this project include graphic novel adaptations of famous literature and historic events that my English Language Learners can enjoy learning from and be inspired by!

Some famous literature like Romeo and Juliet, To Kill a Mocking Bird and The Giver have been made into graphic novels that my ENL students will be able to understand with the help of visuals! Fun books middle schoolers can relate to like the Frazzled book series will give my students relatable reads!

I also included some books, graphic novels and picture books that are social studies based to help aid my students study!
