This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are a wonderfully diverse and creative group of young artists. For many of them, middle school art will be their first real in-depth experience in the arts. I recognize this as a key opportunity for them to not just become artists, but more importantly, to become lifelong lovers and supporters of the arts themselves. I want to make sure that my students have the supplies they need to have a rigorous and immersive classroom art experience!

My Project

All of the materials that I have requested will be used in the classroom and will make an immediate impact in our art class. It will allow my students the ability to express themselves through a variety of artistic mediums. Additionally, it will allow my students to not just learn about art but to experience it, and through that experience gain a greater appreciation of the arts. My goal is to create lifelong lovers of the arts who gain an understanding of why the arts need to be supported in school.
