Mrs. Dash from Baltimore MD is requesting instructional technology through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need a document camera to access teacher modeling, directly on their work page (in their work space), so they can remain included in the general education classroom during math class.

Each of our classrooms serve as individual models of the larger community. Every child is met on their independent learning level while being immersed in the arts and project-based learning.
We are a diverse community of children who are known, loved, and inspired.
Our fully inclusive school values the learning and cultural differences of our Baltimore City students. We have a ratio of nearly 1:3 children with special needs in our K-8 school. Baltimore City has great kids, great teachers, and few resources.
Our students face so many challenges: poverty, trauma, mental/physical/intellectual disabilities, homelessness, and more; yet, they overcome. They are so resilient. We have attendance rates in the 90% range. School is their safe haven even when learning is hard and uncomfortable for them. Making learning accessible is essential if we want to keep them coming and if we truly want to make a change for the betterment of our future!
Making learning accessible is what special education is all about. My middle school students who struggle with math need repeated modeling, visual supports, and access to several different methods of problem solving. A document camera will allow me to provide these tools to my students, regularly, inside of the general education classroom.
Middle school students are very aware of their differences from their peers.
Being pulled out of the general education setting for reteaching of basic skills can be embarrassing and discouraging. A document camera will allow me to teach and reteach skills, inside of the general education classroom, without leaving a paper trail of evidence that some students needed something different than their peers to access the same information.
This camera will also reduce our extensive of chart paper, chart markers, sticky notes, and wall space which could be better used by the students.
