This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are some of the most amazing young people on this planet. Many however come to school uninterested in the institution of school. I have found that the arts and ceramics in particular can be the hook that gets young people excited about school. "Art is the hammer that shapes our reality."

Many of my students come from extreme poverty.

My students come from a diverse background. I have found that once my students are given a chance and a hook that gets them involved, they can do anything.

My Project

My students need a potters wheel to inspire their ceramic work. Working on the potters wheel does amazing things for the mind, body and spirit. When a young person works on the throwing wheel you see a focus like no other. The wheel trains young people to be still and hold their center on the potters wheel as well as in their lives.

Your donation will help give a young person a chance to find themselves and their future by working on the potters wheel.

The calming effect of the wheel is a powerful force. I have found that the wheel helps give students better focus on all aspects of their lives.
