My students need a group set (12) of ukulele's and accessories (replacement strings and tuner) to provide the tools that will develop their musical ability that will lead to a fulfilling musical education.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
These sensational students live in California! These student scholars find school to be fun and love to learn. The classroom is a safe space for them to learn, explore, and discover. Their families are diverse and many of them are first-generation students in the U.S public school system.
Most of our school’s students receive free or reduced-cost meals.
With several of our students living in homes where English is not their first/primary language, most of their adventures with books come from their time in the classroom. Access to extracurricular can also be a burden, both financially and time-wise so my classroom can be the only place that students are exposed to extracurricular activities.
My Project
Inspiration comes in many forms, and as an educator, nothing confirms this more than when a student has an “aha” moment! When I bring my ukulele to the classroom, the students’ engagement and desire to learn increases ten-fold. I can see this “aha” moment in my students’ eyes when they practice strumming a chord on my ukulele. We practice poetry and songs, however, there’s only so much that I can do with a single ukulele and twenty-four students.
A group set of ukuleles will help spark those "aha" moments while we learn chords and strumming patterns.
With a group set of ukuleles, we can create a program that will give all students a chance to play. I want to give my students an opportunity to push themselves while developing the skills that will inspire a love for music that will be a part of a fulfilling education that these students deserve.
