My class starts every day with the promise, "Let's make it a great day!" They enter the room excited to learn. They are a group of students who have embraced the idea of being a community of learners who are always there for each other. They are full of wonder. Throughout the school year, I watch them develop their ability to delve into a task and problem solve. Our school is built on the idea of community.
We are an ELL center-based school and have a high level of diversity which is embraced by staff, students, and the entire community.
We are also a Title I School where 72% of our students receive free or reduced-cost lunch. We do not let these things define us, rather we all work harder to overcome any obstacles that the students face that we cannot change. Students and staff give 100%.
My Project
Living in the upper midwest, we end up with many indoor recesses during the long, cold winter! We need games to keep us entertained and active in order to give our minds a break from the educational part of our day.
Playing games not only provides fun, it encourages teamwork and enhances social skills.
The Hasbro Connect Four games that we would like for our classroom will promote concentration, strategic thinking, taking turns and good sportsmanship. The ROPODA Giant Wooden 4 in a Row Game will allow us to use some large motor skills. We are also excited for the coloring books to allow for relaxation, calm, and creativity for the students wanting this type of activity.
