My students are amazing, energetic learners. In our Transitional First grade class all students need a little extra time to develop motor skills, academics and social skills before they are moved to first grade. The students have positive attitude and we are growing the love of learning.
My students need flexibility and choices to aid their learning environment.
We learn through thematic units that teach us about the world around us.
We are a Title I school district. We are in a military community which means we have students moving in and out of our community. We are diverse learners that have a variety of special needs.
My Project
This project is going to be amazing. I already include a insect unit in our T-1 curriculum. These items will enhance it so much. The books will obviously provide research and reading materials. As well as provide realistic picture. The fictional books are wrote by Eric Carle, a beloved author. The book have repetition which helps with fluency. The toys and magnifying insects will provide a prospective of size, color and category. The live insects will offer daily observations and data to collect. It will also be super fun and engaging.
"Curiosity about the world around us, about what makes it and us TICK is at the foundation of invention, of creativity." Teaching science well can nurture that curiosity, can satisfy some of that yearning to understand WHY."
