My students need interactive math centers that are investigative in nature. I also need batteries to keep my listening center up and running!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Over 86% of my student population are English Language Learners where Spanish is their native language. Our school is 100% free or reduced-price lunch. My classroom consists of 18 eager students who are driven to learn on a daily basis. We believe that school-to-home relationships are evident to achieve student success. Even with the basic supplies given to us by publishers, we still are in dire need of resources that bring learning to life! Building my teacher toolbox is something I strive to succeed at.
This year, we are building a stronger reading foundation for bilingual students which encompasses a majority of our classroom population!
Let's give them the tools they need.
My Project
Who doesn't learn better with hands-on materials? It makes learning more FUN! Students need engaging activities, like measurement, shapes, counting and more, to keep them excited about learning! Math centers will do just that! All primary scholars learn through hands-on experiences. What better way to have instant math centers that are ready to go in a flash for them at all times.
These games correlate perfectly with our state standards and help foster numeral vs number concepts, patterns, comparing numbers, and recognizing shapes.
These materials will be used during center times and math small group time.
The batteries are going to help replace the portable cd players when they run out in their literacy centers. The recently funded listening center is a favorite by far and I want to make sure they have the materials needed to keep it running efficiently.
For the past 4 months, we have been receiving displaced students from Puerto Rico due to Hurricane Maria. I want to provide the best possible learning environment where inquiry-based projects are posed so that I can see what they know in their native language. Math is a universal language and this will help me see their accurate level along with giving them the latitude to collaborate with others.
