My students are on a quest to be deep thinkers, evaluators, collaborators, and engineering leaders of the 21st Century. Our students are excited about honing their knowledge of the human brain via sheep brain study and dissection!
Our 6th Grade Project Lead the Way (PLTW) students at the school are given the chance to excel in Math, Science, Language Arts and History by being given the chance to participate in PLTW!
They are extremely motivated, consistently grow both academically and socially by leaps and bounds compared to their peers, and leave our program ready to engage in not only school, but in life to be great contributors to their community and thrive in the 21st Century!
Our students eagerly accept the challenges set before them, and often exceed our expectations with their work and success.
Even though our school is recognized as a "High Poverty" school by Federal Standards, they consistently score over 900 in state testing!
We are excited they have the opportunity to take on the challenge of the Project Lead the Way Medical Detectives Unit! We have the skills, enthusiasm, and drive; what we need now is some of the materials to carry out our labs!
Thank you for your consideration!
My Project
The students will use the dissection kits and brain placemats to locate parts of the brain and their functions while studying the anatomy of the sheep brain. Students will work in interdependent, small groups to discover and label parts of the brain.
Research proves engaged students are learning students!
Students learn best by doing, and applying the skills they are learning about. They are very excited about the opportunities they have this year to participate in the Medical Detectives labs! They realize their experiences in Project Lead the Way are a fabulous opportunity to acquire and practice skills usually not available to students in an elementary setting. We've seen students excited about learning, and their futures!
