Technology is the wave of the future. Unfortunately not all students have access to technology. Having iPad and Apple TV would significantly aid my students in learning the necessary skills to be successful.
I work at the alternative high school in the district in the discipline program.
The majority of my students are low soci-economic status, have low motivation, and often feel forgotten because they are not on the main campus. Most students do not identify themselves as learners and/or successful learners. Technology in the classroom helps students be engaged and excited about learning.
My Project
I have requested one iPad and Apple TV for my classroom. The impact that having at least one iPad for the class is enormous. It will allow me to teach with the best technology available and expose students to new and exciting places and ideas that may not be available to them any other way. We will be doing most of our work without books but through information found on the web. There are several apps available for social studies that allow students to take virtual field trips, construct maps, and experience history as it happens.
Technology is how the majority of our students communicate.
Technology in the classroom makes sense. My students often feel like they are last in line at school and at home. Affording them the newest technology will let them know that they are valuable students and worth it.
