My Students

My students this year are rockstars! They have come into their fifth-grade year ready to roll! I love their energy and willingness to "get down to business." I teach in an area with lots of amazing students, who bring many different cultures to our classroom! They are all so resilient and loving to each other! I love that we can learn from each other and about each other's differences. I am really excited to have this group of kids! They always "show up" each day!

My Project

In our school we are all about providing lots of opportunities and access for students to be exposed to real life problems. We go through a LAUNCH cycle every week (look, listen, learn, ask questions, understand, navigate ideas, create and highlight and fix. We propose a real life problem and they have to go through the LAUNCH cycle to investigate, create and make next steps for the idea. The kids LOVE this part of our week and always get so much out of this. When they have to "get to work" on their research and ideas they all need access to a technological device. We are starting to have them go around the building and interview and record other experts on their topic. If they have a device like an ipad it will make it more accessible and convenient for them to be at their best!
