My students are bright and enthusiastic learners who come from diverse backgrounds.
First grade students need to be able to move, touch, explain, and share ideas to Innovate in OC.
Over 1/3 of my students receive free or reduced-price lunch. My students are second language learners, speaking a variety of several different languages, and need extra support to enable them to become proficient in English, and several special education students. Many of these students need to have access to technology resources that they do not have access to at home. These students are motivated and enthusiastic to come to school and learn. Some parents are not able to provide support, as they do not have the language, time, or academic resources to provide them assistance. My students are scholars and consider themselves to be beginning their life long journey of learning. Students are excited to share their innovating, creativity, collaborations, and critical thinking with each other. These scholars have created amazing solutions to problems they are given weekly. They are the future scientists, computer programmers, engineers, artists, and mathematicians.
We are an active classroom! We love to touch, observe and use technology to build a deeper understanding.
A short throw, mounted projector, a document camera, and a sound bar will make our interactive white board student friendly.
Students need to be able to touch, draw, and write on the board without having to navigate around their shadow from a projector.
A mounted short through projector will enable my students to independently use our interactive white board. My students are so motivated to use our interactive white board, but unless it is calibrated, due to our projector being bumped or moved, it is no accessible to students independently.
There are so many activities students could engage in small groups with a mounted projector and document camera. They could access online books, manipulate words and math tools to help extend their learning. If we had a mounted projector, this interactive learning tool could open so many tools for my scholars. The document camera allows all papers to be converted to use with the interactive board, thus allowing students to touch the board and write answers. The document camera has a built in microphone so students can speak to the class and be heard by all with the sound bar. Students are so motivated to use the interactive board, but the giant shadows make it difficult for first grade students to navigate. The mounted projector allows students to interact on the interactive board. The document camera allows students to write and speak in the microphone to solve problems on the interactive board that were previously just a worksheet, and they now are interactive. The soundbar can be used for students to present, share their interactive projects, and listen to any media. My students love to use the interactive board and these materials would make the interactive board so student friendly that they could use them without adult assistance!
