Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Ours is a community of diverse 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. We have students in our magnet programs, students with learning challenges, and second language English learners. My students love to problem solve and look deeply into the world around them.
My students have a thirst for knowledge and are curious learners about the world they live in.
They are engaged in the new technologies that they are a part of and look forward to what the future holds for them.
My Project
My project will introduce students to coding and robotics with hands-on play of the Wonder Dash. Each time they select this center they will be opening up their imagination and creativity. An example is the use of the xylophone, which allows students to learn concepts like loops and sequencing while composing a song. Furthermore, the robots will provide fun challenges that teach the students the block-based coding skills they will need throughout their schooling, while developing critical thinking skills.
The students will be exploring computer programming without even knowing that this is what they are doing.
Solo or collaboratively the students will be fully engaged, wanting to control and create specific behaviors of the robots. The Wonder Dash Workshop will allow students to imagine, explore, create, and innovate!
