My students need a variety of literature choices that will challenge them throughout the year. They need novels for our mini-book projects throughout the year. They also need iPads to create and present in innovative ways.
My kids love to learn! A typical day in class involves critical thinking/problem solving, collaboration, creativity, and performance, all in an effort to keep them engaged and learning. Remarkably - my Gifted students don't receive many of the resources that are funded by our district and other outlets. Since those resources go to the on-level students, I am left to get creative about finding ways to engage my learners. My students are brilliant and deserve challenging resources at their fingertips!
My Project
Funding for technology and resources is scarce, and my kids are often overlooked since their test scores are high and they are highly motivated. Providing them with complex literature and the materials needed to produce quality work is extremely important to me. They come in every single day excited about our class, and having engaging material to present them is key for their success!
Providing my students engaging, challenging reading material is a tall task.
Most of the literature provided at our school is for the standard student which means my gifted students aren't challenged by the choices available to them.
