My students need opportunities to bring their creations to life! By having access to a green screen and Makey-Makeys, they will have so many possibilities to create and bring out new and unique ways to grow!
At our school, we serve students in fifth, sixth, and seventh grade. Up until this year, we had sixth and seventh graders. This year, we have fifth graders in our building as well. Last school year, we began a STEAM lab (science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics) in order to serve our students better in our science classes. We did research and collected materials to support students who wanted an extra challenge. Each month, students had the opportunity to experience challenges and go through the engineering process in ways that they had previously not been able to.
We want to give all of our students the opportunity to create and communicate in ways that have previously been unavailable.
By creating a Makerspace area with a green screen, we hope to give all the students in our building the space to bring their creativity to life.
My Project
We have been dabbling in integrating more opportunities for students to create. In our district, we follow the SAMR Model and the 4 C's: Critical Thinking, Communication, Collaboration, and Creativity and Innovation. Many times, our students travel through their school day without being able to fully experience these types of skills.
As we prepare our students for 21st century learning, this includes arming them with the necessary tools to become successful in our global society.
As we all are aware, students need to be prepared to think critically and learn to communicate in different ways. Our project hopes to begin that process.
