Our students choose to opt in to our school because traditional schools do not meet their learning needs. We get students from many different walks of life. It makes our school culture unique and special. We are a project based school so that students who love to design and build can really excel. I allow my students to take ownership of many of their projects, by doing this I have seen some projects that I could have never imagined possible.
All kids have the ability to produce amazing projects when they are allowed to take ownership and work on something they are passionate about.
Our students focus on helping others and community outreach when designing their projects. The kids that go to this school astonish me everyday with what they can do. I am very proud to call myself their teacher.
My Project
The students will use these micro-controllers for half of the school year to build multiple projects. These projects will allow the students to explore computer science engineering and coding while building tangible working items. This will culminate in a project where students will research an environmental need. Each student will be allowed to build their own project that they are passionate about.
They will then use that environmental need to design and build a solution using the Arduino uno micro-controllers.
Students will present these designs in the Eastern Regional Science Fair in March. Some students will move on to the state and national science fairs to compete for opportunities to escalate their education.
