Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a second grade teacher at a small year round school in downtown Los Angeles where my students live in a low socio-economic area. My students live in a community where there are abundance of multi-level apartments which do not have backyards or open areas to play. Further, since open areas and parks are not accessible, my students' parents have to drive to get to a park. THus, our students typically play on the busy streets.
Presently, our school is going through a construction phase(its been about 4yrs. now) and this construction has also limited our play areas on campus.
Your generous donation will help us purchase games, music CDs and equipment that we need to enhance our Physical education program. We will be using this equipment for English Language development during our mixing time block. During mixing, we mix students by English language levels. Four teachers teach the following subjects Art, Music, Dance and Physical education. We are very limited in space and have very limited equipment at our school.
Your donation would help our students improve their English language development and keep them fit and healthy.
