This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

I am the Building Technology Coordinator of a small inner city school. I am the CEO of our student run greeting card business. This business is run by 6th grade students. We are a multicultural learning community serving students from many different countries.

The economic downturn has reached the elementary schools too. We need a small amount of supplies to keep our student run greeting card studio in business.

We need cardstock paper and envelopes to keep us going! My students design the cards we sell. They also design the catalogs of card offerings (general occasion, as well as holiday). These students also create marketing materials, collect, produce and distribute card orders. All monies are counted, tracked, and entered into an Excel spreadsheet by our "financial person ( a sixth grade girl)."

The goal of my project is to increase language arts test scores for my involved students. My ESL and Bilingual learners face the same test as the rest of our state's students. However, when my students take these tests, they have to read the test in English, translate it in their heads in their own language, then answer in English....for every single question. My project is to help them with their reading, writing and thinking fluency.
