My Students

What if life had no color? A lot of issues may be resolved or may not surface at all. There may be no suffering, hunger, war, but also no art, music, or love. Fortunately for us, we do not live in this type of "community." The world is vibrant, beautiful and full of color! Pre-k should be as well!

Welcome to Pre-K!

Come on in! We ask that you be respectful to those around you as well as the materials you play with. Language isn't an issue here, we're confident you'll pick it up quickly. We learn through play and exploration so you're required to bring your curiosity and imagination. Have fun! Our kids are young, ambitious, and curious, but there's darkness lurking about that's much too serious. Pre-K is a time to explore and play, to imagine and create until the end of the day. But the trouble that's looming seems to be blooming. Academic rigor! Academic rigor! They're telling us to grow up much, much quicker. They want to prepare us to be college ready. We want to go to college, but at a pace that's steady. Our parents can't help us out of the troubles that's lurking; it's not their fault! They're too busy working! It's up to you to help us keep our childhood we're about to lose, you wonderful people, the people of DonorsChoose!

My Project

When the original Pre-K Printing Press was funded, it had impacted our classroom greatly. The color printer was used to create newsletters to keep our parents up to date with what was going on in our classroom. The printer's use evolved into something greater. Our pre-k students started making their own books and telling stories! It started with one child and that's all it took to blow up. Every child wanted to create a story, draw or photograph the pictures, and publish their own book. Our printer got a lot of use and unfortunately, it has run out of ink. The pre-k writers, artists, architects, professionals, and imagineers have lost their ability to see in color and desperately need the ink for our printer to bring the color back. I want to inspire my students to become anything they want to be, writers, illustrators, artists, builders, professionals, and anything else they aspire to be.

The ability to print and display their work in color makes a big difference.

So many of our students were eager to take home their published work to share with their family and friends. You'll be helping our classroom promote their work, build confidence, and they'll continue to be proud of their work.
